Picture A Day Project

DAY 63: Had a stellar time presenting on #culturallyadapting #healthmeasures and hope I kept my audience captivated at the @fbmh_uom #PhD #Conference. This time they assessed content and clarity of slides, verbal communication, timekeeping and something I definitely need to practice- handling questions more professionally, with insight! Still, quite pleased with my feedback: very nice slides- very engaging and clear- confident and interesting #presentation, handled questions very well. 👩🏽‍🎓 #DOMEproject #phdlife #phdchat #ecrlife #ecrchat #academia #research #conferencelife #beinginthepresent

Day 62: Suite 9 at @officialuom's Centre for Primary Care (Day 2!) is home to the '#ethnicminority #research in #primarycare' division- the first of its kind in the UK, right here at #Manchester! #DOMEproject is only one piece of the overall picture. The work being done here, by a great rag tag team, focuses on ethnic minority #recruitment, #culturaladaptation of and improving access to different #services and #therapies, developing and adapting #assessments and #healthmeasures and so much more. #phdlife #phdchat #ecrlife #ecrchat #academia #uom #mcr #culture #nineplussedwiththisvariety

DAY 61: #Research session at @timhortonsuk with @hebiscus for company as I focused on #MOCAproject. Managed to email all the questionnaires I've finalised (Day 48!) to different adaptors of the #montrealcognitiveassessment in between mouthfuls of sugar. Fingers crossed there's at least a 50% return rate! #DOMEproject #phdlife #phdchat #ecrlife #ecrchat #academia #doughnutday #doughnutgiveup

DAY 60: #academic #conferences have been great opportunities for #dissemination of #DOMEproject, keeping up with current #dementia, #mentalhealth and #primarycare #research, learning about new ventures and endeavours, #networking with others and meeting future collaborators. But I can't deny the flutter in my chest from the obscure goodies, sloganed tote bags, random pens, and informative leaflets I walk away with. #phdlife #phdchat #ecrlife #ecrchat #conferencelife #academia #arukconf #toteallyhookedtopromotionalgoods

DAY 59: The ones who stuck out #allnighters at the #learning commons, surprised me with survival kits of energy drinks and sweet snacks through my #dissertation, volunteered as participants for random #psychstudies or helped me with #recruitment, celebrated #exams ending and #graduation happening, endured assignment lows and highs, distracted me when I came back from the holidays, #homesick for my family. Became my family in #Manchester 💜 #uom #unilife #manclife #mybabes #purplepeople #proudtobepurple #unifriends #everythinghereismancmade

DAY 58: Sunny days at @officialuom with more visits to the library, hours at the desk working on #ethics applications and meetings about my ongoing #metaanalysis for #DELTA, having never done one first-hand before. Between all that, with this part of campus flocking with students during the #academic year, it's rare to find it picture perfect empty. #DOMEproject #phdlife #phdchat #ecrlife #ecrchat #academia #research #manclife #uom #manchester #purplepeople #workingwomanc

DAY 57: Designed leaflets and ran promotion for #mentalhealth and #wellbeing #parent #workshops. We're running sessions on #parentalseparation, #parenting in a #digitalage, #anxiety and #behaviouralproblems. We've also run sessions on #bullying, #sleepproblems and #bereavement. #clinicalthursday #assistantpsych #psychlife #psychchat #psychcareer #clinpsy #clinicalpsych #assistantpsychologist #letstalkshop

DAY 56: I learnt so much about what other #postgrads are up to at the @fbmh_uom #PhD #conference at @officialuom; domestic violence, #mentalhealth and suicidal ideation in postnatal mothers, the duplication of genes across evolution, and the support needs of #carers of those with #dementia. I presented on #DOMEproject and got a few laughs but also enjoyed talks on children's existing social networks and the impact of dog genes on human studies. All penultimate to a hilarious, intriguing and energised keynote by @gilesyeo that got me thinking of #obesity in a new light and more about #scicomm #phdlife #phdchat #ecrlife #ecrchat #research #academia #culture #conferencelife #manchester #dagsoc #posterchild

DAY 55: Prepping my #presentation slides, #poster handouts and other materials for tomorrow's talk at 2pm on #culturallyadapting #healthmeasures. I'll be explaining why we need to do it and how we can, through examples from #DOMEproject, and #methods that can help others adapt any measure of their choosing for any #ethnicminority group.
